Boing, boing… Is that the sound of Spring lambs gambolling in the fields? Or Easter eggs bouncing off lawns, in all those rolling contests?
Either way, as well as sprightly sounds, the holiday season has kick-started some zestful theatre-going among bloggers. Hatty Daze and her children joined in with the energetic Adventures with Sam at Greenwich Theatre. Max and Mummy enjoyed the creativeness of Lyngo Theatre’s Puss in Boots at the Lighthouse, Poole. My Gorgeous Boys dressed up as Julia Donaldson characters, and watched a performance of Tall Stories’ Snail and the Whale at Lakeside Arts Centre in Nottingham. Also at Lakeside, Zena’s Suitcase was excited to see a piece of interactive musical theatre, One Finger, One Thumb by Big Window Theatre Company. And North East Family Fun let their imaginations take hold at I Believe in Unicorns, a Theatre Alibi Staging of Michael Morpurgo’s book at Northern Theatre.

Also featuring a round-up of London’s cultural treats is Mums Do Travel, who posted a guide to the capital’s attractions for this month. It includes some ideas for Easter egg trails; although that time has now passed, you can visit Chelsea Mamma‘s blog. She tried out one of the seasonal specials at Kingston Lacy, a Dorset National Trust property set in 8,500 acres of estate.
As well as theatre, bloggers have been indulging in a little historical exploration. Mari’s World took a step back in time at the Tower of London. Parentshaped conquered her fear of the sea to discover the Historic Dockyard in Chatham, Kent. And Family Travel Times‘ Robert gave a lad’s perspective on the Churchill War Rooms.
Globalmouse Travels took in some incredible historic buildings at Alberobello, a UNESCO world heritage site in Puglia, Italy. Over on this side of the continent, Happy Homebird felt King Richard III’s influence when she visited Castle Gardens in Leicester. And ET Speaks from Home marvelled at Warwick Castle’s latest attraction, the Time Tower, a 3D/4D journey through the castle’s past.
It wouldn’t be an arts and culture round-up without at least a brief mention of the written word. This month, blogging readers have been out and about. Charliemoos and family were invited on board the Hogwarts Express; and Babes About Town went to the Roald Dahl Musuem, where WWE star Jack Swagger read passages from The Twits (I know – WWE isn’t where your mind naturally darts on hearing the words ‘Roald Dahl’. But Swagger’s a massive fan, apparently).
And finally: film. Home-grown talent Kenneth Branagh has directed the latest Disney version of fairytale classic Cinderella, and the movie has been reviewed on both Me and My Shadow and Californian Mum in London. I’m yet to see the film, but both these reviews have me itching to drag my 3-year-old out to the flicks….
